Eoin Morgan

The record for the most sixes in an ODI inning was broken by England captain Eoin Morgan on Tuesday when he hit as many as 17 against Afghanistan in a World Cup game here. With 17 sixes and four boundaries in his 148 off 71 balls, Morgan was in imperious form.

Leading England to their first-ever ICC ODI World Cup victory was one of Eoin Morgan’s career highlights throughout the exceptional year he had in 2017. To add to that, Morgan had a fantastic summer as a person in addition to being a highly successful captain. Morgan, like other English batsmen, had a successful run during the World Cup last year. Despite not having a reputation for being a destructive batsman, Morgan demonstrated this during a World Cup match in 2019. Morgan’s 71-ball, 148 run blitzkrieg that set the Manchester stadium on fire occurred during a round-robin match against Afghanistan. He destroyed the Afghan bowlers all over the pitch.

In that inning, Morgan smashed 17 sixes, which presently holds the record for the most sixes hit by a single batsman in an ODI inning. As England defeated Afghanistan by a whopping 150 runs after reaching a whopping 397/6 on the strength of one of the most destructive knocks in history, the innings also became a cherished memory for cricket fans. Morgan struck the ball with a strike rate of more than 208 during that knock. There were four fours in his knock as well.

Chris Gayle

When he hit one of the fastest hundreds in ODI cricket on January 1, 2014, Corey Anderson was at the pinnacle of his game. The fastest ODI century in New Zealand cricket history was scored by Anderson in that match against the West Indies in Queenstown, off just 36 balls. Anderson hit 6 fours and 14 soaring sixes in that unbeaten 131 off 47 ball innings. On the list of batsmen with the most sixes in an ODI innings, Anderson’s mayhem, still regarded as one of the best ODI performances, places him fourth. Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who bats first, is included on this list once more because he once scored 14 sixes in an ODI innings. St. George’s in 2019 will host England. Gayle hit the ball out of the park 14 times in his 97-ball 162 innings, destroying the English bowlers. Along with that, Gayle hit 11 fours for a spectacular knock that had a strike rate of over 166. West Indies, however, lost that game because they were unable to meet England’s enormous 419-point mark, which resulted in a defeat for the visitors.
