ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Records and Statistics: Which team has recorded the highest run chase in the world cup history?

It is a race; it is the chase that matters the most. Once a team is done getting some runs on the board, it is up to the second team to chase the target. While this happens, the job of the bowlers is to defend the target that is set forth. The defense is important if the batters have done a good job in the first innings. That is the only thing that is going to help the team win the match. The bowlers struggle hard to take as many wickets as possible. Especially if the openers are down and some top-level batters in the order, then the chances of defending the score are much higher. But what if the batters are not willing to let the bowlers take the wickets?

Khelraja is back with another set of world cup records that you would love to check out. World Cups are all about records and statistics. Whenever a batter, bowler or a team makes a record, the world is in an awe of their proficiency. Online cricket betting cannot be better without the contribution of such brilliant players. In the following table, we bring to you records for the highest run chase that was ever recorded in the history of the world cup until now.

Score Team Opposition Venue Date
329–7 (49.1 overs) Ireland England M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru 2 March 2011
322–3 (41.3 overs) Bangladesh West Indies County Ground, Taunton 17 June 2019
322–4 (48.1 overs) Bangladesh Scotland Saxton Oval, Nelson 5 March 2015
313–7 (49.2 overs) Sri Lanka Zimbabwe Pukekura Park, New Plymouth 23 February 1992
312–1 (47.2 overs) Sri Lanka England Westpac Stadium, Wellington 1 March 2015
  1. Sri Lanka (312 Runs)

In 2015, the Sri Lankan international cricket team made a record for the highest run chase. The team was able to chase the target that was given by the England cricket team in just 47.2 runs. The Sri Lankan batters made 312 runs at a loss for just one wicket. The partnership was one of a kind that took people by a surprise.

  1. Sri Lanka (313 Runs)

On the fourth position we again have the Sri Lankan cricket team that made a record for the highest run chase in the cricket world cup history. The team made 313 runs when they were chasing the target that was given by the Zimbabwe team in 1992. The Sri Lankan team proved that it could chase a high run target and bring victory home.

  1. Bangladesh (322 Runs)

In 2015, the Bangladesh team made a record for the highest run chase when they chased the target of 321 runs that was given by the Scotland team. The Bangladesh team chased these runs in only 48.1 overs and made this record. Having 300+ runs on the scoreboard gives a high chance of winning the match for the team that bats first but when the batters of the other team are in form, a score this big can also feel short.

  1. Bangladesh (322 Runs)

The second position is again given to the Bangladesh cricket team for the record for the highest run chase. In 2019, Bangladesh was playing against the West Indies team to win the match. The batters of Bangladesh cricket team managed to chase the target of another 321 runs and won the match in just 41.3 overs. Bangladesh definitely has some good batters that have really helped the team chase some great runs.
